Specificity for CD3
The CD3 Mouse Anti-Rat Monoclonal Antibody(mAb) recognizes the rat CD3 protein, a T cell co-receptor that is made up of four subunits (one gamma chain, one delta chain, and two epsilon chains). CD3 associates with the TCR and zeta-chain to make up the T cell receptor complex, and is involved in antigen presentation, signal transduction, and T cell activation. CD3 is expressed by thymocytes in a developmentally regulated manner and by all mature T cells. Immobilized CD3 Mouse Anti-Rat mAb has been shown to activate T cells in vitro, while the soluble mAb inhibited allogeneic mixed-lymphocyte proliferative responses and cell-mediated cytotoxicity to allogeneic target cells.
