Specificity for CD38
The CD38 Rat Anti-Mouse Monoclonal Antibody recognizes mouse CD38, a ~42 kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein. CD38 is an ectoenzyme that functions as a cyclic ADP ribose hydrolase essential for intracellular calcium regulation. It plays a role in B cell proliferation, lymphocyte activation and differentiation. It is expressed on a subpopulation of thymocytes, mature T cells, and NK cells. Expression levels increase at each stage of B cell differentiation, until reaching germinal center B cell and mature plasma cell stages, whereupon levels are down-regulated.
