The authors examined the endocytosis and trafficking of Lipofectamine LTX vs DMRIE-C in CHO cells and concluded that the resulting complexes they form with DNA are endocytosed by separate pathways that converge at a late stage. DMRIE-C is internalized via caveolae. Lipofectamine LTX is internalized via clathrin-mediated endocytosis.
