UN Global Compact

We are a signatory on the UN Global Compact. Retaining our right to freedom of expression, we are committed to supporting and respecting the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights, including but not limited to rights of minority groups, women and indigenous peoples, and to ensuring that we are not complicit in human rights abuses. Conforming to appropriate ILO standards, we uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining, the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labor, the effective abolition of child labor, and the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation. We support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges, undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility, and encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies. We also work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.

CoolClimate Network

The CoolClimate Network (CCN) is a non-profit applied environmental research consortium that supports the development of socially integrated carbon footprint management platforms for individuals, schools, businesses, communities and city leaders. In 2011, we partnered with CCN to expand carbon calculator data to include over fifty countries to help citizens around the globe better understand and manage their carbon impacts.

This partnership also resulted in the development of Step Forward, a carbon calculator that helps employees, customers, and friends and families discover and lighten their carbon impact.

Water Conservation

In partnership with the San Diego County Water Authority (SDCWA), we implemented water conservation initiatives in Carlsbad, California, to save 20 million gallons of clean, potable water every year, surpassing our initial projection ten-fold. In an effort to future-proof our business from water impacts, we also participate in the CDP Water Disclosure Project beginning in 2012.
