Fostering Positive Interactions Between Local Schools via Innovative Science
by Jennifer Hornstein - 01/04/13
InnovatioNation is a company-wide effort to foster positive interactions between local schools and Life Technologies via multiple interactions, including wet labs, field trips to Life Technologies sites and science fairs.
It is an educational program that was started in 2012 through collaboration between the Life Technologies Foundation and Corporation. The mission of the program is to bring cutting edge science to students to provide an introduction and overview of what it means to be a scientist in today's world. The program is targeted at 5th, 7th and 9th grade life science classes and consists of a several month long partnership between a Life Technologies facility and a local school in their area.
This video highlights the partnership between a 7th grade class from Escondido, CA and the Carlsbad facility of Life Technologies.
Our Eugene, Oregon site developed a deep partnership between the Prairie Mountain School and Willamette High School students this past fall and hosted an awards presentation during the Family Science Night.
Thirty students from participating InnovatioNation schools were congratulated on their scientific accomplishments, and Life Technologies employees had the chance to assist in judging and awarding the top awards! Along with the thirty students, over fifty friends and family members attended the event to show their support.
Below are a few pictures from the event. Feel free to leave comments below congratulating our young scientists on their accomplishments.
