Improved Protein Expression Through Gene Optimization

The GeneArt® Genes-to-Expression Service is designed to help you find the best mammalian-cell expression plasmid for your protein.

The most basic service, Expression Verification, consists of transiently transfecting your plasmid into either HEK293 or CHO cells, and checking to see whether detectable amounts of your protein are produced. With the Expression Verification Service, you’ll receive documentation that can help you decide whether the tested construct will meet your protein expression needs or whether further optimization is required.

The Best-Expresser Service compares the performance of genes optimized using different strategies (Figure 1). Our standard optimization service reliably improves protein expression from most genes; however, comparison of the different optimization strategies may be beneficial in order to identify the best approach for a specific gene.

Because a single amino acid exchange, the exchange of a protein tag, or the truncation of a hydrophobic or transmembrane region of a protein can have a strong impact on expression level and function of a protein, the Best-in-Class Service can identify gene constructs with significantly improved function. Choose the Best-in-Class Service to identify the best expressing (best-performing) version of your construct from among several protein variants.
