About This Plant-Based Technology

Precision TALs derived from Xanthomonas, a genus of plant pathogens. The pathogen specifically recognizes DNA of the host with a protein containing 17–18 repeats of approximately 34 amino acids each. The nucleotide specificity is conferred by amino acids 12 and 13 within each repeat. Each nucleotide in the target DNA is recognized by one repeat.

This 1-to-1 relationship can be used to specifically target any locus in the genome.

The fastest and easiest way to design, edit, optimize, and order GeneArt® Precision TALs is through the GeneArt® portal.

Order online

The ordering process is simple; just follow the three steps below:

  1. Select the functionality (effector domain) of your TAL from Table 1. For details, refer to the ‘TALEN functionality overview
  2. Select the product name from Table 1.
  3. Then place your order through our online design tool within the GeneArt® portal, or you can download and complete the TALEN order form and email it to geneartsupport@lifetech.com.
