The opacity is presumably caused by oxidative stress (methoionine oxidation). It is assumed that methionine sulfoxide reductase A (MsrA) can improve or even reverse the ill phenotype. The study creates MsrA overexpressing human lens epithelial cells with the aid of the ViraPower Lentiviral Expression system.
