Cell cycle analysis

Mitotic arrest is frequently used as an indicator of cytotoxicity in mammalian cells, and measures of mitotic index can be used to evaluate compounds during drug discovery and development. Life Technologies offers tools based on antibody detection or transgenic protein expression to monitor cell cycle progression.

Live or fixed cell analysis

There is a tight correlation between chromosome condensation and histone 3 (Ser10) phosphorylation during mitosis. This event can serve as an indication of mitotic progression or inhibition within the context of drug profiling.

The fluorescence ubiquitination cell cycle indicator (FUCCI) is a genetically encoded, two-color (red and green) reporter for following cell division within a cell population.

Both the HCS Mitotic Index Kit and the Premo™ FUCCI Cell Cycle Sensor can be used to monitor the effects of a compound on the cell cycle while multiplexing with other measurements such as cytotoxicity or immunodetection of choice targets.
