SYPRO® Protein Stains are easy-to-use fluorescent stains for the detection of proteins separated by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE). Fluorescent gel stains are designed for use in 1D and 2D PAGE and offer sensitivities similar to that obtained with silver staining techniques. Stained proteins can be viewed with a standard UV or blue-light transilluminator or with a laser scanner.

High-sensitivity fluorescent stain for quantitative and multiplex analysis

SYPRO® Ruby Protein Gel Stain is a highly sensitive, ready-to-use fluorescent stain for the detection of proteins separated by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE). SYPRO® Ruby stain is well suited for use in 1D and 2D PAGE. The sensitivity of SYPRO® Ruby Gel Stain is similar to that observed with silver staining techniques, and offers several advantages over silver staining:

  • Simple staining procedure—no destaining or timed steps required
  • Linear quantitation range over three orders of magnitude
  • Compatible with mass spectrometry and microsequencing

Stained proteins can be viewed with a standard UV or blue-light transilluminator, or with a laser scanner. For optimal sensitivity with Polaroid® film, use of the SYPRO® Photographic Filter is recommended.

SYPRO® Red Protein Gel Stain is a sensitive, ready-to-use fluorescent stain for proteins in 1-D gels. It offers many advantages over Coomassie Blue staining, including a fast, one-step staining protocol requiring no destaining; a linear dynamic range over three orders of magnitude; and very little protein-to-protein variation in staining. Stained proteins can be viewed with a standard UV or blue-light transilluminator or with a laser scanner. For optimal sensitivity with Polaroid® film, use of the SYPRO® protein gel stain photographic filter is recommended.

SYPRO® Orange Protein Gel Stain is a sensitive, ready-to-use fluorescent stain for proteins in 1D gels. It offers many advantages over Coomassie™ Blue staining:

  • Fast, one-step staining protocol requiring no destaining
  • Linear range over three orders of magnitude
  • Very little protein-to-protein variation in staining

Stained proteins can be viewed with a standard UV or blue-light transilluminator or with a laser scanner. For optimal sensitivity with Polaroid® film, we recommend using the SYPRO® Photographic Filter.

SYPRO® Tangerine protein gel stain provides fast, easy, and sensitive detection of proteins in gels (down to 4 ng/band) without the need for fixatives. Staining is compatible with subsequent western blotting, zymography, electroelution, or mass spectrometry. Compared to Coomassie™ Brilliant Blue and silver staining, SYPRO® Tangerine stain provides more consistent protein-to-protein staining and a much broader linear quantitation range (over three orders of magnitude). Stained proteins can be viewed with a standard UV or blue-light transilluminator or with a laser scanner. For optimal sensitivity with Polaroid® film, use of the SYPRO® protein gel stain photographic filter is recommended

Our proprietary Molecular Probes® Coomassie™ Fluor Orange Protein Gel Stain enables fast, simple, sensitive staining of proteins separated by SDS-PAGE. After electrophoresis, the gel is stained, rinsed and photographed. Staining is typically complete in less than an hour—no separate fixation or destaining steps are required, and there is minimal risk of overstaining the gel. Stained proteins can be visualized using a standard 300 nm UV transilluminator or a laser-based scanner. Coomassie™ Fluor Orange protein gel stain is also available in a 5 liter size.
